Ladakh has the closest railway station in Jammu Tawi, which is well-connected to other major Indian cities, such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is approximately 700 km between Jammu Tawi and Leh, and you will have to change to a road mode of transport, either taxi, bus, or personal vehicle, to pass the remaining journey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other railway stations, such as Pathankot and Chandigarh, are also available, but combining road and train in such locations to Leh is usually very long and inconvenient. Many travelers avoid that option because it adds several extra days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s Planned: Railway to Leh<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s the exciting part: Indian Railways is planning a Bilaspur\u2013Manali\u2013Leh broad-gauge line, which would become the world\u2019s highest railway line once completed. Many long\u2010distance trains connect Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and other cities to Jammu. This gets you as close as possible by rail.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>From Jammu Tawi to Leh by road<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you spend at Jammu Tawi, your road transport would have to be arranged. One can use pre-booked cabs or cabs, or can use buses.
